OPEN CALL FOR EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST

Calling for contributors and expressions of interest for our first volume of publication, 'Atlas Deathscape', themed 'Real-and-Imagined Places'.

We conceptualise death as a place for intense transformation and renewal; moments of death demand attention, care, and a sense of dignity and reverence in humans. Join us in charting the underexplored terrain of your preferred place for being in the world at significant moments in life.

ATLAS DEATHSCAPE

RESEARCH & PUBLICATION, 2023 (SELF-INITIATED)

WE ARE CALLING FOR YOUR HELP TO ASSIST US IN CHARTING THE UNDEREXPLORED TERRAIN OF YOUR PREFERRED PLACE FOR BEING IN THE WORLD AT SIGNIFICANT MOMENTS IN LIFE.

A PART OF OUR ONGOING ENDEAVOUR PRACTISING TO INQUIRE, RETHINK, AND EXPERIMENT WITH ALTERNATIVE METHODS OF PROBLEM-SOLVING BY CREATING NEW DESIGN PROCESSES AND TECHNIQUES FOR FLOURISHING DEMOCRATIC CULTURES, ATLAS DEATHSCAPE IS A PROJECT INITIATED BY LIMIT LANDSCAPE SITUATED AT THE INTERSECTION OF ART, DESIGN, HEALTH, SCIENCE, HUMANITY, AND RESEARCH.

WE CONCEPTUALISE DEATH AS A PLACE FOR INTENSE TRANSFORMATION AND RENEWAL; MOMENTS OF DEATH DEMAND ATTENTION, CARE, AND A SENSE OF DIGNITY AND REVERENCE IN HUMANS.

THROUGH THE SYSTEMS THEORY FRAMEWORK, WE EXPLORE ALTERNATIVE METHODOLOGIES FOR DECISION-MAKING IN URBAN PLANNING AND DEVELOPMENT PROCESSES. ATLAS DEATHSCAPE PROBES THE POTENTIAL OF URBAN MORPHOGENESIS AND THE EVOLUTION OF ‘SELVES’ DRIVEN BY THE FREE PURSUIT OF LOCAL (PERSONAL) GOALS IN ALL THE SUBUNITS (INDIVIDUALS) IN SOCIETIES.

WE ARE BUILDING A COLLECTION OF DATA ON INDIVIDUALS’ NARRATING THEIR PERSONAL IMAGINED PERFECT MOMENTS OF DEATH AND DYING, ELUCIDATING THE REAL, IMAGINED PLACES AS THE IDEAL EXPERIENTIAL SPATIOTEMPORAL-MATERIAL COMPOSITE.

AN EXPERIMENTAL HEURISTIC DEVICE, THE PROJECT AIMS TO CONSTRUCT A FRAMEWORK FOR MEASURING AND INTERPRETING THE COLLECTED INFORMATION TO BETTER UNDERSTAND INDIVIDUALS’ INTUITIVELY PREFERRED STATES OF PLACES: THEIR PHYSICAL MAKE-UP, THE AMBIENT QUALITIES, AND THE STRUCTURAL PATTERNS.

THE COMPILATION OF COLLECTED DATA WILL BE MADE AVAILABLE FOR PUBLIC VIEWING VIA OUR WEBSITE RESOURCES PLATFORM, ONLINE AND PAPER PUBLICATION, AND VIDEO DOCUMENTATION IN JULY 2024. WE INVITE YOU TO CONTRIBUTE TO AND CO-AUTHOR OUR UPCOMING PUBLICATION.
